The General Assembly of the European Centre of the International Council of Women (ECICW) was hosted by the German Council of Women in Freiburg between October 19 and 23.

Fifteen countries were represented with other German organisations at the seminar on "Trafficking on women, a new form of slavery - the unscrupulous business with hope".

Doris Bingley represented NCW Malta.

ECICW adopted a resolution to be sent to the Members of the European Parliament, the EU Commission, the Council of Europe and national governments.

Two more workshops were held: one on "Women in Decision-Making" and another on "Sustainable Development concentrating on Water".

A questionnaire on each was formulated and adopted. Each will be circulated among national councils to collect data and good practice for the compiling of a report to be endorsed at the next general assembly. ECICW hopes that the report will be useful to all councils and their countries.
