The Seabank Hotel in Mellieħa has turned into an airshow hub where more than 150 people from 27 countries are meeting for the annual convention.
Organised by the European Airshow Council, it is the first time in over 10 years that this international gathering is taking place in Malta.
This year’s conference brings together all stakeholders in the European airshow industry, including pilots, organisers, national aviation authorities, insurance companies, air traffic services and other organisations involved in airshows around Europe and beyond.
This year’s convention attracted delegates from as far afield as the US, China, Jordan and Turkey.
Malta Aviation Society president Joe Ciliberti, who is also a board member of the European Airshow Council, spoke to the Times of Malta about efforts to bring the conference to Malta.
The convention kicks off today with speeches by EAC chairman Gilbert Buekenberghs and Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis.
The European Airshow Council strives ‘to promote excellence and safety at airshows’ and this 20th edition of the European Airshow Convention being held in Malta will provide the appropriate platform to discuss airshow matters.
