The Malta Business Bureau (MBB) - the EU advisory office of the Malta Federation of Industry (FOI), the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise (CoCE) and Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) - has launched a dedicated EU funding service for the members of its parent organisations as from last Thursday. Through this periodic update entitled "EU Funding Newswire" the MBB will provide members with the latest information on EU Funding Programmes and partner searches.

From a survey circulated among FOI, CoCE and MHRA members in May, it was evident that Maltese enterprises, while highly interested in EU policies and EU regulatory issues, are also very keen on tapping EU funding opportunities for their respective businesses. Thus, a decision was taken to enhance the services the MBB offers to cater for this need.

Besides the periodic information seminars, which it has been organising on various EU funding programmes, the MBB is now offering one-to-one clinics for members.

These clinics, which initially will be free of charge for the first preliminary evaluation, will seek to identify the EU funding programmes of greatest relevance to the enterprise concerned, in the context of its short-medium term business plans. The MBB will then seek to match local and/or foreign partners and help members apply for funds directly. This service will be subsequently charged at a preferential rate for members.

The MBB has already established a network of contacts, via the MBB Brussels office, with various Brussels-based regional offices from the UK, Italy and Spain, among others. These will be used as the main antennae for partner searches and matches.

This first issue of the EU Funding Newswire includes a reader-friendly guide to the LIFE III programme, as well as partner searches received from our contacts at the Valencia region representation office in Brussels. Some recently published calls in the official journal for project proposals have also been featured.
