Vladimir Spidla, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and former Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, visited the Malta College of Arts, Sciences and Technology during his visit to Malta earlier this month.

Paul Attard, president of the college's board of governors, briefed Mr Spidla about Mcast's current range of courses and its participation in European Social Fund projects.

Mr Spidla visited a number of the college's workshops and laboratories and was particularly interested in Mcast's contribution to the growth of aircraft maintenance and servicing, adult education and the college's future plans.

He was accompanied by Joanna Drake, head of the EU representation in Malta.
