Executive Training Institute Malta was recently appointed partner of the University of Greenwich in Malta.

The accreditation process was carried out this year and was headed by Peter Morris, director of computing collaborations within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the UOG.

The final approval event by the QA office at CMS took place at the UOG. This appointment will enable students to continue to read for UOG degrees in Malta.

The institute will launch its programme of degrees in January with the M.Sc. Information Systems Management (ISM). This postgraduate degree is recognised at Level 7 in the Malta Qualifications Framework.

C.J. Falzon, academic course coordinator for ETI, and link tutor to the UOG programmes, expressed his satisfaction at the decision taken by the UOG to continue their collaborative programmes in Malta.

"The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at UOG has been offering B.Sc. Computing and postgraduate courses in ICT in Malta for the past 10 years with exceptional results," Mr Falzon said.

He added that the UOG courses in Malta are not offered through distance learning and ETI is not solely an agency for UOG.

All courses are delivered directly via face-to-face tuition by experienced and highly qualified tutors. Through the use of the latest technology, ETI students will have direct online access to all learning resources available to resident UOG students.

ETI director general Franco Debono said ETI was proud of the trust shown by the UOG for this accreditation. According to the Times Guide 2010, UOG ranked first in the UK for student satisfaction for computing sciences and second for mathematics.

"Building upon the already well-established reputation of UOG graduates in the Maltese ICT sector over the coming months, ETI will be launching further degree and diploma courses in ICT."

Debono said ETI will offer these programmes to both Maltese residents and foreigners.

"Malta has the potential to establish itself as a quality service provider for further and higher education for European and third country nationals," he said.

The M.Sc in ISM trains information and system managers in skills needed to meet future challenges. Managing various aspects of information systems is a key skill required by computing and IT specialists.

The ISM postgraduate programme aims to provide students with sound knowledge of planning and control of information systems. Upon successful completion, students should be proficient in the development of internet, web and database technologies.

Moreover, they would have also developed project management skills for IT consultancy and strategic decision- making.

Students graduating from the M.Sc ISM of the UOG would be in a position to become IT consultants, IT managers, business strategic planners, enterprise IT business specialists and web masters.
