An Ethiopian man this morning admitted in court to having injured several persons,  when his car ploughed into a group of people waiting to buy vegetables from a vendor's van in Hal Far.

Yascob Zeweldi, 28, who lives in Hal Far open centre, was arrested on the scene of the incident last Monday evening.

He seriously injured Annuziato Xuereb, Raymond Borg and Abdulahi Abdel Adif and slightly injured Musab Muhammed Abdigarit and Anthony Zahra, among others.

Police Inspector Kevin Pulis exhibited breatalyser test documents which, he said, showed that the accused had not been drunk a the time of the incident.

The case was put off to October 3 so that the report of the Magisterial inquiry may be presented.
