The General Workers Union had a list of jobs with government entities which Enemalta employees whose jobs were no longer required could choose from was because it was a recognised union, Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi said this evening.

Replying to a Parliamentary question by Nationalist MP Marthese Portelli, Dr Mizzi said that all workers, however, had access to this list through the Human Resources Department.

He said that the Union Haddiema Maghqudin, which represented a good number of workers but was not a recognised union, had asked for a copy of the list and it was given one.

While some workers at Enemalta would be moving to other government departments because their jobs were no longer necessary, the government had received more requests for a transfer than the actual number of transfers required, Dr Mizzi said.
