Enemalta has installed a small wind turbine at its distribution centre in Marfa to test wind power generation capabilities.

The Investment and Industry Ministry said the purpose of such tests is to enable Enemalta to give objective and impartial advice to consumers on what they can do to reduce dependence on power produced by conventional means.

The corporation had also installed photovoltaic panels on its facilities at Kappara and Bugibba for the same purpose.

Investments Minister Austin Gatt visit the Marfa facility this morning and in comments asked for how long the MLP was proposed to keep the power surcharge reduced by half if elected to government,  He also pointed out that the government is already subsidising the surcharge by 50 per cent.
