Recently I was invited to attend two separate book launches, both of which are related to Malta's heritage and history.

The first launch was another authoritative book in the series by Dr Stephen Spiteri dealing with the construction of bastions and other fortifications built by the Knights of St John. The other book is the second in the series of the Ellis Collection. No words can ever describe the beauty and value of their contents.

Having gone through them a number of times, I still find new information. Both are enchanting books that one never tires of perusing.

These, and other similar publications, should form part of any private collection. This is our heritage and will in future serve to remind our descendants of what Malta was like and what was entailed in its development.

I hope that more worthy books will be issued in both series and also similar publications by other authors and publication houses.
