The happy chuckles of a toddler reverberated in the silence of the Good Shepherd Home in Balzan yesterday morning as immigrants congregated for an ecumenical service to mark World Refugee Day. With readings in English, Maltese, Amharic and Tigrinya, the service transcended geographical and linguistic borders and brought together people of different religions and nationalities who prayed for the people of Africa to be able to live in tranquillity without having to flee their country. Later they held a social activity together. Photo shows Apostolic Nuncio Tommaso Caputo chatting with an young immigrant. Photo: Chris Sant Fournier
