Easygas welcomed the proposal issued by the Malta Resources Authority regarding the distribution of cylinders door-to-door in what is known as ‘a multi-flag system’.

This proposal, it said in a statement, will offer customers around Malta a choice of cylinders on each truck with a one stop shop system enabling them to choose to purchase LPG cylinders from different providers from the same distributor and select their preferred product.

This would also lead to less LPG delivery trucks on the road contributing to less traffic congestion and pollution.

The proposed system, it said, would reduce the potential distribution costs incurred by any company investing in the business benefiting consumers.

It said the present distribution system could be improved further through service level agreements with the distributors, including a mechanism to make sure that any overcharging of cylinders, failure to distribute cylinders and other deficiencies resulting in customer.

The 24/7 emergency service proposed by the MRA was also a step forward for customer safety.

“Easygas Malta Ltd sees this proposal as a positive means to improve the distribution system and is open to all discussions leading to a better and more efficient distribution system for the benefit of the consumers.”

Rival company Liquigas yesterday criticised MRA's proposal saying it sought to stop the efficient service provided by Liquigas.
