A couple of weeks ago, the slip road at the roundabout that enables cars to go to Sliema was only accessible to cars going to Valletta. This happened because of works being carried out.

Two big signs stating “Valletta only” were placed at the turn-off. By the afternoon, works were completed... but the signs remained.

Most motorists realised that the slip road was now open and ignored the signs and carried on towards Sliema with no hassle.

On Monday, there were enormous queues heading towards the roundabout from Pietà because a policeman was preventing motorists from turning left towards Sliema and was forcing them to go round the roundabout again.

On Tuesday, there was no policeman but most motorists didn’t know this.

What I would like to know is:

1. Are the “Valletta only” signs to be taken seriously?

2. Do they need to be removed?

3. How are motorists to know what to do?
