Andrew Camilleri, a 29-year-old driver from Mtarfa, was fined €2,400 and had his licence suspended for three months today after he admitted seriously injuring two people.

He also admitted to driving dangerously and negligently along the Coast Road in Baħar Ic-Ċagħaq on October 5, 2003 at 3p.m. when he crashed into a car being driven by Raymond Gatt.

Mr Gatt suffered a 23 percent disability while Janet Bartolo, a passenger in Mr Gatt’s car was, for a time, in danger of losing her life. She suffered fractured legs, several fractures of her pelvis and a fractured arm.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano in handing down judgement took into consideration the fact that Mr Camilleri’s insurance had compensated the victims.
