Viva Tours Ltd this morning filed a judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court against one of its former employees, Vincent Micallef, holding him liable for damages.

The company told the court that Mr Micallef had been employed as Business Development Manager for 18 months until his employment was terminated last June. According to the company, following this termination, Mr Micallef had spread false news about Viva Tours and had approached the company's clients with a view to taking its business.

Viva Tours added that Mr Micallef was promoting himself and Team Travel Malta Ltd, of which he is a director, with the company's clients.

Furthermore, Mr Micallef was alleged to be in breach of his fiduciary duties by taking advantage of confidential information he had become aware of in the course of his employment.

Viva Tours called upon Mr Micallef to immediately desist from his illegal and abusive actions and held him liable for damages. Lawyer Simon Schembri signed the protest.
