Works have almost been completed on the first phase of a health centre in Ghana being built through local fund-raising by the Ghana Mission Foundation in Blata l-Bajda.

The health centre in Kumasi is a project of the International Catholic Programme for Evangelisation. The project was chosen by Pope John Paul II to mark the New Millennium.

Last year, the foundation sent the sum of about US$84,000 thanks to the generosity of the Maltese. This was also possible thanks to a donor, who wished to remain anonymous, who offered to pay half the bills received from Ghana by the foundation up to the sum of Lm150,000. Last year the foundation raised the sum of Lm32,000 in aid of the centre through various activities.

The foundation receives donations at its office at Blata l-Bajda. Cheques or money orders can be sent to The Ghana Mission Foundation, c/o Media Centre, National Road, Blata l-Bajda or deposited directly in one of its bank accounts: BOV 11206046019 or HSBC 033-143819-050..
