May I express my concern, and perhaps that of the great majority of Maltese fans of Juventus, about the arrogant behavior of those Maltese men who were assigned the security task with the Juve team, during their recent winter training camp on our island.

"Members" and "special members" officially affiliated with the club in Turin, the first 10 of whom presented themselves at the hotel where the players were staying, had the opportunity to be allowed into a reserved area to meet the players before each training session. We waited for hours on end each time, but these security personnel roughly kept us far away from the entrance. Those fortunate few allowed in found a human barrier from the hotel exit to the coach, not even allowing the players to approach us.

This repeated itself near the training ground at Ta' Qali. Excited nine and 10-year olds, wearing Juve shirts, enthusiastically calling the players by their name and eager to get near these great footballers, were kept away by these big men in black. They should have allowed these children, who waited for such a long time, to get near the coach to have a photo taken and to collect autographs. What harm could these children have done having been given this unique opportunity? Were these young ones a threat to the players' safety?

Adding insult to injury, we saw Maltese Kevin Costners (The Bodyguard) posing and taking photos with the players. They even carried bags full of autographed shirts perhaps for their friends and relatives.

I call this a grave abuse of power. Shame!
