Funds in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund were raised yesterday at two separate events held in Ta' Qali.

A record attempt was made at creating the biggest human fleur-de-lys. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather, the turnout was not as big as expected, so the attempt failed. Nevertheless, the Mosta Scout Group, which organised the event, still managed to raise €1,200.

Over at the banger track, 42 cars were thrashed, crashed and bashed till there was only one left working, all in the name of a good cause.

The Demolition Derby took over an hour and a half to finish. It was the culmination of a whole day of action at the track featuring Autocross, Banger, 4x4 Buggy, Motocross and Quad vehicles competing in their respective championships.

The organisers could not say how much money had been raised.
