McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa has said he does not know if he will be on the grid next year in a Prodrive car.
Prodrive is expected to enter Formula One using chassis and engines from McLaren-Mercedes and the McLaren test drivers are said to be in the frame for a drive.
However de la Rosa told the Spanish newspaper Diario As that he did not know whether that would be the case, although racing remained his ambition. The Spaniard dismissed recent claims by former McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya that the team always had a No1. driver and that is currently Hamilton.
"Fernando (Alonso) is a double world champion so of course he is not of secondary importance to anyone."
De La Rosa said the driver rivalry was helpful to the team and helped push development.
