It worries me to see an increasing dangerous practice of using road cat's eyes and studs where pedestrians are walking. I first became aware of these when my wife stepped on one as she stepped off the kerb outside Castille and quite severely twisted her ankle.

I have now seen the same studs actually in the pavement near Burger King in Tigné and have seen cat's eyes, again in the kerb, directly outside the church in Naxxar and now I have seen the cat's eyes placed directly in the middle of the pedestrian crossing outside the Hello Travel Agents on Zabbar Road in Fgura. This is all that I have seen myself so I can't begin to imagine where else they have been put in other places around the island.

These studs and cat's eyes are meant for directing traffic and are very dangerous when put in the way of pedestrians. If someone slips or trips on one, they can get badly injured, or should someone be seriously hurt before this practice is stopped and all existing studs and cat's eyes in kerbs and pavements removed?

Surely this practice contravenes all health and safety practices.
