Carnival kicked off yesterday with dancing competitions in Freedom Square, Valletta, and a spectacular défilé with the participation of King Carnival.

A children's carnival will be held today at Freedom Square starting at 9.30 a.m. The programme includes children's dances, floats, défilé and merriment along Republic Street, including the entrance of floats into Freedom Square.

At 5.30 p.m. there will be carnival dancing competitions in the square, including a spectacular grand défilé with the participation of King Carnival, triumphal and company floats along Merchants Street, St John Street and Republic Street, Valletta, followed by the entrance of the défilé into Freedom Square.
