Over the past week, Marsa had two series to play. One was against the Cyprus team ANT CC, where the local team had a one-game lead, and the other against Old Bedford Moderernian CC from the UK.

On Wednesday, Marsa were very confident of winning the series against ANT after their emphatic win in the opening game. Winning the toss, the Marsa team elected to bat and scored 105 runs from their allotted 20 overs.

Tim Wheeler top-scored with 31 runs. Alan Kyle (17) and John Grima (16) were the next best contributors.

In reply, the visitors put in a strong response and managed to make the required runs in the last over.

C. Betteridge top-scored with 28 runs, A. Buttertill 21 runs and R. Stanley 20 runs not out. Nadeem Ashraf was the home team's main wicket-taker with three while Ronnie Sacco took two. ANT CC managed to square the series.

Last Saturday, Marsa again batted first in their game against Old Bedford and at one stage looked like being bowled out for under a 100 runs. Then, a fine batting display from Nowell Khosla, who made 50 runs not out and 39 runs from Sacco, helped the local team amass a formidable score of 190 runs from the 40 overs which were allotted. For the visiting team, there were seven bowlers who took a wicket each.

In reply, the Moderernians had a flying start, having 112 runs on the board for the loss of only two wickets and 20 overs to go.

But great bowling from Martin Llewelyn and Sarfraz Ali, who both took four wickets, had Old Bedford bowled out five runs short of their target. For the visitors, Jason Lockward, who led the scoring with 59 runs, Nick Packard, 30 runs, and Mark Willis were the main contributors.

Marsa went one up in the series.

On Saturday evening, the Globalair summer league prize presentation was held with Marsa CC taking the main trophy.

Khosla claimed the batting honour with the most runs and Mike Caruana the bowling accolade with the most wickets.

The awards were presented by Bernard Vassallo, the chairman of the Kunsill Malti għall-Isport.
