Cruise passenger traffic between July and September increased by 26.3 per cent over the corresponding period last year, figures released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) show.

Passengers visiting Malta on cruise liners totalled 197,984. Over 100 cruise liner calls were made, 11 more than last year.

Most visitors were from EU countries, making up just over 77 per cent of total traffic. The major markets were Germany, Italy, UK, and France. Passengers from non-EU countries reached 45,341, with the majority coming from the US, the NSO said.

In the last three months, 5,256 passengers visited Gozo.
