Thieves have stolen the Baby Jesus and Madonna from the illuminated crib on Manuel Dimech Bridge.

The theft followed another crib robbery, when thieves stole the Baby Jesus from a similar crib near the War Memorial in Floriana earlier this month. That baby Jesus was replaced after a few days thanks to a sponsor - Environmental Landscapes Consortium which installed five cribs in Malta and another in Gozo, does not have figures to replace the stolen ones.

Environmental Landscapes Consortium General Manager Ronald Cuschieri said the figure of the Madonna was broken off the base to which it was bound.

Each crib set costs over €200.
