A court has conditionally discharged a husband and wife who damaged a car in their street, noting that their action was motivated by a desire to protect their daughter from a person inside the car who was under a court order not to be in their street.

The incident happened on January 31, 2010 in Marsascala.

The court noted that a woman inside the car had been accused of harassing the couple's daughter and a court had ordered her not to go to the street where the girl lived.

When the woman was spotted in the car, the police were called but before they arrived an argument developed and the car was damaged.

Magistrate Carol Peralta noted that the accused were in a state of anxiety and their actions were motivated by their desire to protect their daughter.
