The owners of the MV Ladybug, a cargo ship that has been anchored off Malta for months, have been ordered by a Maltese court to pay the  captain and crew €279,507.14 in overdue pay plus €14,960 for their repatriation.

In August the court had issued a warrant for the ship’s arrest because of the pending payments.

The 72,000 ton vessel was granted access to Maltese waters on August 10 after being stranded for months due to problems regarding crew's wages, food provisions, fuel and water.

The crew are mostly Filipino. They have been receiving assistance by local International Transport Workers’ Federation representative Paul Falzon and the Embassy of the Philippines in Rome.

The ship's owner is B Ladybug Corporation.
