The Environmental Health Directorate yesterday advised consumers not to eat vacuum-packed herrings bearing the brand name Roi Fumee because of the possible presence of a pathogenic micro-organism.

The directorate said it had received information from the Rapid Alert System For Food And Feed that the herring contained listeria monocytogenes bacteria, which can be dangerous if consumed.

The affected lot is 10201 and the product weight is 200 grams. The expiry date is listed either as December 7, 2010 or January 31, 2011. The country of origin is France.

Call the directorate for information on 2133 7333 between 8 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.
