The Ministry for Social Dialogue and Consumer Affairs is setting up information kiosks in business centres to enable consumers and businesses to get information on their rights and duties according to law.

During the launching, the minister, Helena Dalli spoke about the importance of consumer education. She said that education on consumer issues should start from a young age both within the family and at schools.

Dr Dalli said that particular attention will be paid to the more vulnerable consumers so that they will also have enough knowledge about their rights.

Minister Dalli spoke about the investment which needs to be done at the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA). She said that an emphasis will be made on strengthening human resources in the education and public information areas within this entity. The information kiosks will be managed by the MCCAA.

More information may be obtained from the MCCAA through its freephone line 8007 4400.
