Rumours have it that the St Julians local council is planning to construct a two-storey car park to accommodate 120 cars under Balluta Square. Works are scheduled to start in April.

It is also rumoured that this will be effected without touching the surface of the square which was only refurbished a few years ago. It is true that this project was discussed openly at the Spinola Gardens with other projects due to be effected in St Julians but many St Julians residents did not notice the advert Moving Together or had any knowledge whatsoever about this meeting.

Many residents in the Balluta/St Julians area, the many pensioners, families who frequent this square to spend some of their leisure time and the commercial community who have establishments on and around the square, are now asking and trying to find out exactly what the outcome of this project will be.

Many are asking for a consultation and briefing meeting about this project so that the many questions being asked will be answered. I hope this suggestion will be taken up by the council.

Some of the councillors have already been approached but no action seems to have been taken. Such a meeting would help to clarify and shed light on what exactly this project consists of.
