Neapolitan songs will be performed next Thursday at 8.45 p.m. at the Atriju Vassalli.

Franco Teodoror Tommasi, leader voice, fiddler and guitarist, is one of the founders of the group Canzoniere di Terra d'Otranto. Through his numerous concerts from 1991 to 1996, he introduced the public to the fascinating roots of the musical tradition of the Salento, a peninsular region in southern Italy.

Tommasi played the fiddle in scenes of musical therapy in Pizzicata, by Eduardo Winspeare, a film dedicated to Tarantismo, a phenomenon typical of the Salento. Since 1997, Tommasi has been playing solo. His repertoire has grown to include the golden period of the Neapolitan song.

During his performance, Tommasi will sing some of the most famous Neapolitan songs such as Te Voglio Bene Assaje, Malafemmena, l'te vurria vasa and a number of traditional songs from Salento, namely Fimmine fimmine, Matinata, Donna ci stai alle cambare, Orai mu pisulina, and Oh Ddiu quanti sta casa.
