€11.2 million were spent by the Transport Ministry on infrastructural works related to the Valletta Summit and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

The details of the works and costs were tabled in Parliament by Transport Minister Joe Mizzi this evening, following a parliamentary question by Marthese Portelli (PN).

The bulk of the expenses, €10,470,000 were used on roadworks, spanning from €1million on St Paul’s Bay to Għajn Tuffieħa (split in two) and another €1million on Mġarr to Għajn Tuffieħa (also split in two) to €42,000 on wall works at Ta’ Qali and Rabat.

Another €642,243.07 were used for line marking and signage.  The most expensive line markings, at €46,000, were those at Triq Dun Karm in Birkirkara.

Traffic channelisations cost €177,475.38.
