The KMS Skolasport 2009-2010 programme came to an end last week with the annual sports day.

The young participants gathered at the Cottonera Sports Complex to showcase their sporting talent in front of an audience consisting of parents, relatives and friends.

The event kicked off with a performance by Tama Tnabar followed by a display of the Performance Groups showing their skills in various sport disciplines. The special guest singer for this annual activity was the popular Freddie Portelli.

KMS Skolasport has the support of Kellogg's, the world's leading producer of cereals.

Marco Cachia, Commercial Manager at Charles Darmanin Co Ltd, distributor of Kellogg's in Malta, said: "Kellogg's has been supporting Skolasport for the past 11 years, as we believe in its valuable service in developing sport talents among the young generation."

Louise Busuttil, company director, presented the Kellogg's sponsorship for Skolasport to Bernard Vassallo, chairman of the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport.

During the sports day, KMS launched the Annabelle Vassallo Award for the "Most Committed Coach".

This was presented for the first time by Vassallo to Karl Cortis, a third year PE university student who has been coaching at KMS for the past three years.

Cortis has already coached in programmes like 'Skolasport', 'Sports Buzz', 'Summer on the Move' and the Community Programme.

Vassallo said: "It is a great pleasure to recognise those who have put so much into this programme and also the immense contribution that they have given to sport."
