During 2004 Chevrolet Malta held the highest market share per capita among its European counterparts.

Quoting statistics issued by the Malta Transport Authority, local importer Mira Motors Sales Ltd said Chevrolet gained just under six per cent of the total passenger vehicles market in Malta in 2004.

European sales have increased by 45 per cent, reaching 160,000 units this year.

Geraldo Altieri, representative of Chevrolet, European Division, was recently in Malta to mark Chevrolet's first anniversary in Malta and to launch the new Chevrolet Nubira (Lacetti) Station Wagon.

Powered by a choice of 1.6- and 1.8-litre 16-valve petrol engines, boating 109 and 122 bhp, the Nubira is fully loaded, including air-conditioning, ABS, twin airbags and all comforts. It measures 4,580 mm in length, 1,725 in width and 1,500 (including roof rack) and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Starting price for the 1.6 is under Lm6,800.

The unveiling of the Nubira took place during the Open Week of the Zammit Group of Companies. Present for the opening were the Zammit Group directors Victor and Joe Zammit, and Alastair and Conrad Zammit, the board of directors as well as other representatives from Chevrolet and Honda.
