Malta Double Trap shooter William Chetcuti placed ninth in an ISSF World Cup shoot in Lonato, Italy, yesterday.

Around 68 Double Trap shooters competed in the competition held in what is considered by many as one of the best ranges in the world.

Chetcuti hit scores of 44, 45 and 47 to amass a total of 136 that put him ninth in the overall standings, just three clays short of the sixth-placed shooter who made it to the final barrage.

American shooter Josh Richmond won the gold medal and an Olympic Games quota after hitting 191 clays (142+49). Russia's V. Focker (188, 140+48) and Italy's Daniele Dispigno (187, 139+48) completed the podium placing.

The others who made it to the barrage were India's R. Sodhi (186, 141+45), China's Q. Pan (185, 139+46) and Hakan Dahlby, of Sweden, (184, 139+45).

Chetcuti's next World Cup shoot at the end of this month in Slovenia.
