Joseph Casha and Twanny Mifsud earned the right to play for the national team in the World Championships after reaching the final of the remaining Malta Pool Association Qualifier Tournament which was held recently in Żejtun.

Casha beat Mifsud 8-2 in the final after a close 7-6 win over Lyden Debono in the last four stage. The other losing semi-finalist was Chris Mills. He was beaten by Mifsud 7-4.

The World Championships will be played in Blackpool, England, between June 27 and July 8.

The U-18 Qualifier Tournament winner was Darren Schembri. He beat Wayne Farrugia 6-4 in the final.

These two players will also make the trip to Blackpool in summer for the Youth Championships.

The beaten semi-finalists in the U-18 competition at Żejtun were Mark Hili and Ryan Falzon.
