A small amount of cash was stolen this afternoon by a hooded man who entered a detergents shop in June 7 Street, Hamrun.

The hold-up took place at about 4.30 p.m.

The man brandished what looked like a pistol however when the man 'fired' it accidentally when he hit a door on the way out, and it turned out to be a toy. The man escaped.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.
