The compilation of evidence against Romeo Bone, who stands charged with attempting to 'eliminate' PC Mario Portelli, was put off to Friday after Bone was not taken to the court on time this morning.
Mr Bone is being held at the Corradino Prisons but was not in court when the siting was due to start at 9 a.m.
Magistrate Silvio Meli waited for half an hour - while officers tried to contact the prisons - before rescheduling the hearing to Friday.
PC Portelli is the main witness in the case against former Inspector David Gatt, who is accused of involvement in a series of hold-ups.
The prosecution said during the arraignment that Mr Bone had been observed near Mr Portelli's home and his farmhouse and the police had information that he wanted to 'eliminate' him.
