A car dealer who allegedly took his clients’ deposit money to import cars from the UK but never delivered the vehicles was this morning charged with fraud.

Duncan Buttigieg, 29, from Għaxaq pleaded not guilty to defrauding nine people and misappropriation.

He was also charged with driving a car without a licence and relapsing and was remanded in police custody.

A few days ago, Mr Buttigieg was charged with conspiring to set fire to the Police Inspector Angelo Gafa’s car, who works in the fraud squad.
