San Gwann 0
Mosta 2

Mosta recorded their second win of the season after beating San Gwann 2-0.

Veteran playmaker Philip Camilleri was the main inspiration behind Mosta's victory. Camilleri not only dictated matters in midfield with his fine distribution of the ball but also hit a gem of a goal in the second half.

San Gwann's player-coach Danilo Doncic opted to include veteran midfielder Sandro Zammit Fava from the start. Nevertheless, Mosta were a hard nut to crack in midfield, playing a simple passing game and never giving away an inch.

Referee Karl Frendo Cumbo made his first appearance in Division One and had a very good performance.

Ten minutes into the game, Mosta were already 1-0 ahead. Camilleri won possession in his own half and served Bryan Agius on the left. The Mosta defender floated the ball into the San Gwann area and Seyi Rufai, although not hitting the ball well, still managed to score from close range.

Mosta continued to play the better football. In the 19th minute, Camilleri passed to Ryan Deguara but the latter's attempt finished just wide.

With San Gwann finding it very difficult to put some pressure on the Mosta rearguard, it was the latter who threatened again on 34 minutes but Camilleri's dipper from outside the area finished over the crossbar.

The pattern of the game was unchanged in the second half. Two minutes after the restart, Camilleri produced a firm shot from outside the area but San Gwann goalkeeper Justin Spiteri neutralised his effort.

Twenty minutes from time, the San Gwann custodian could do nothing to stop Camilleri's thunderbolt hitting the back of the net... an outstanding goal.

Mosta could have made it 3-0 seven minutes from time when Rufai sprinted into the area but Spiteri tipped his effort away for a corner.
