The price of goods leaving factories in recession-hit Britain jumped to a nine-month high in November owing to higher fuel prices, according to official data.

Producer prices climbed 0.2 per cent in November compared with the level in October, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said in a statement.

And they jumped by 2.9 per cent in November compared with the same month in 2008 - the strongest year-on-year increase since February.

"Month on month the output prices measure for all manufactured products rose 0.2 per cent in November, mainly reflecting price rises in petroleum products and, to a lesser extent, food products," the ONS said in a statement.
