The Bank of Valletta branch in Ibraġ was recently transformed into a hive of activity as part of a series of events that the bank is holding with various local communities around Malta and Gozo.
The sixth Community Week took place in Ibraġ, with numerous activities touching on a variety of themes such as the environment, sports, education and heritage.
The week kicked off with two inspiring artistic exhibitions. The first floor of the branch displayed a pictorial exhibition on the desalinisation of water at the nearby Reverse Osmosis Plant in Pembroke, while local artist Joe Gaffiero exhibited numerous wooden furniture miniatures executed in great detail.
A tree-planting event organised by branch employees in Pembroke highlights the bank's ongoing commitment towards the environment. This initiative was supported by another activity at Pembroke primary school in collaboration with Birdlife Malta. A visit to the elderly at Swieqi parish centre served as a gesture of solidarity with older members of the local community, while book donations to the local councils of Pembroke and Swieqi continued the bank's efforts towards fostering education.
A football sports event was held at the nearby Pembroke Athleta Club, with teams of youngsters from Pembroke Athleta, Melita and Luxol St Andrews competing in a fun tournament. The final day of the Community Week was dedicated to children, who visited the branch to spend time with their favourite mascots Ċikkurillu and Ċikkurilla. Community Weeks are testimony of the commitment that the bank has taken to strengthen ties with the local communities within which it operates, recognising that its role in society goes beyond the provision of financial services.
