A book to introduce Year 5 students to the EU and its workings was launched this morning at the Pembroke Primary School.

The book, Avventura Madwar l-Ewropa (An Adventure Across Europe), by Loranne Vella, is packed with illustrations and graphics by Ġorġ Mallia.

It is aimed specifically at Maltese schoolchildren.

Protagonists Tommy and Rosy are whisked through various important issues including children’s rights, democracy, social exclusion, alternative energy resources, treaties and institutions.

The book was launched by Education Minister Dolores Cristina and the head of the European Commission Representation in Malta Martin Bugelli. It was funded and produced by the European Commission Representation in Malta.

It will be distributed to Year 5 students in state, church and private schools for the next two years.
