A bone density unit was inaugurated at Gozo General Hospital this morning.

The unit is part of a wider €4 millio project which also saw the setting up of a Radiology Department and new operation halls.

The investment is being co-financed with the European Union.

Work on the unit started last year and was finalised in the past three months. The equipment was also installed in the past three months.

Health Minister Godfrey Farrugia said that the unit was aimed to be used for osteoporosis screening. Through the unit, the government was implementing an electoral promise, he said.
