The victims of the 1942 bombing over Sannat were remembered in an activity at Sannat parish church on October 9.

On October 10, 1942, two German Junkers 88 dropped two 2,000-kilo bombs over the village while being chased by two British Spitfires, killing 18 people.

During the activity Joe Zammit Ciantar recounted how he and his father miraculously survived one of the blasts while his 17-month-old sister Lydia succumbed to her injuries.

Charles Bezzina, author of a revised version of Il-Qilla tal-Gwerra fuq Għawdex (The rage of war in Gozo), presented a short account of the effects of World War II on Gozo, focusing on the Ta’ Sannat tragedy.

Books were presented to Sannat parish priest Tarcisio Camilleri and Sannat mayor Philip Vella.
