A spectacular Birgu by Christmas Lights festival was announced today by Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said and Vittoriosa mayor John Boxall.

The historic city will be lit up solely by candles and Christmas lights this Friday and Saturday.

The nativity scene will be recreated in the streets and there will be carol singing in the churches.

There will also be stands in the main square and the surrounding streets selling traditional Christmas food and traditional items, including Christmas souvenirs from Italy.

There will also be marches by the AFM band, the police and boy scouts while musicians will play traditional instruments and others will play bag pipes at street corners.

Concerts will be given on a stage in Victory Square, featuring top entertainers.

This will be the second time that the festival will be held. The first edition, last year, attracted thousands.
