Glenn Bedingfield, who hails from Cottonera, was born in 1974. He comes from a worker's family. Mr Bedingfield joined the Labour Party fold at a very tender age. He held the post of general secretary of the Forum Żgħażagħ Laburisti between 1996 and 1998 and was a member of the party's National Executive since 1995. To date he is still a delegate at the Labour Party's General Conference.

Mr Bedingfield was one of the pioneer journalists of Super 1 Newsroom. His journalistic abilities had been rewarded in 2002 when he was awarded the prize for that year's Best Journalist. He is also the author of three books dealing with investigative journalism mainly concerning the links between politics and criminality. He has just published a new book "Joseph - Habib u Mexxej".

He contested the 2004 European Parliamentary Elections but gained his seat in a casual election in 2008 when Dr Joseph Muscat resigned to take the Labour Party leadership and the post of opposition leader. Mr Bedingfield continued with Dr Muscat's line of action but also sought new political issues such as illegal migration, timely and appropriate medical care, taxation and the environment. In the European Parliament he served as a member of the Budget committee and as a substitute member on the Committee of regions.

He successfully graduated in Political Studies from the University of Malta.

Mr Bedingfield is married to Annavic née Deidun and is the proud father of Emma.
