A Somali national living in an open centre was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring a co-national during a fight.

Yusuf Osman Ilmi, 30, residing at the Ħal Far tent centre, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Said Mohamed Gudi, who lived at the same centre, in Birżebbuġa on Sunday evening at 10.30 p.m.

Magistrate Silvio Meli heard Mr Ilmi plead not guilty to breaching the public peace.

Police Inspector Priscilla Caruana prosecuted.

Lawyer Mark Busuttil was defence counsel.
