Anton Pace was recently awarded the Louis Naudi Award for best student. He obtained an M.Sc. in Training and Performance Management.

Mr Pace was one of a group of 31 who were awarded Master's degrees, diplomas and certificates in HR management and development through the collaboration agreement between the Foundation for Human Resources Development (FHRD) and the Centre for Labour Market Studies (CLMS) of the University of Leicester.

During the ceremony Dan Bishop described the experience with Maltese students as excellent and said the foundation had become one of the main overseas centres for CLMS. FHRD chief executive officer Joe Gerada said HR professionals were crucial as they had to see beyond the current crisis into the future.

The recession will be followed by heavy demand for trained and experienced personnel able to innovate and edge ahead of competition. HR professionals need to nurture this resource and prepare for their employees well, if their organisations are to succeed in the long term.

The ceremony was preceded by a seminar addressed by Johnny Sung, followed by a panel of experts from industry who discussed the impact of the current economic crisis on the management of people.
