The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices last month remained at a constant rate of 1.2 per cent.

The 12-month moving average rate for September stood at 1.1 per cent.

The largest upward impact was mainly due to higher prices of non-alcoholic beverages, while the largest downward impact was attributed to lower prices of garments.

The annual rate of change as measured by the Maltese HICP was 0.3 percentage points lower than that registered for the euro area in August.
