Conference on Papal encyclical

An evening conference on Pope Benedict’s encyclical Caritas In Veritate and its relevance to Gozo’s social and economic development will be held on January 19.

It is being organised by the Malta Chapter of Centesimus Annus Pro Pontefice Foundation (CAPPF), in collaboration with the Gozo Business Chamber and the Gozo Tourism Association.

The conference had to be postponed in November as it coincided with the death of Bishop Emeritus Nikol Cauchi.

It will focus on a number of themes from the encyclical – a vision of a modern socioeconomic world where business is not only concerned about self-interest but also assumes responsibility for all stakeholders who contribute to the life of the business.

Morality and values have to be an integral part of the way business is set up and run. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech is among the speakers.

CAPPF is a Vatican based foundation whose primary role is to disseminate the social thinking of the Catholic Church.

The conference will be held at the Calypso Hotel, Marsalforn, at 6 p.m. Registration is free and can be made by e-mailing mspiterigonzi@miscomalta.com.
