SPITERI. On May 13, at Mater Dei Hospital, LUIGI (ex policeman) of Qormi, aged 94, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Evelyn, his children, Margaret and her husband Saviour Micallef, Charlo, Eileen and her husband Emanuel Mercieca, his grandchildren Clavia, Melvia, Sephora, Bonamy, Myvanwy, Waylon, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7 a.m. for St George's parish church, Qormi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 7.45 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Resurrection Cemetery, Qormi. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

First aid courses
The Malta Red Cross Society will be holding a basic first aid course in English at its headquarters at 104, St Ursula Street, Valletta from June 1-4 between 5 and 9 p.m. A course in Maltese will be held between June 22-25 from 5.30 to 9 p.m.
Certificates are recognised throughout EU countries and will be issued at the end of the course to successful candidates.
The course fee is €33, which includes course materials, course notes and certificate.

Healing Mass
St Joseph Group - Nazju Falzon will be holding a healing Mass at the chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Lija on Wednesday at 6 p.m. It will be celebrated by Fr Marcello Ghirlando.
Public lecture
The Institute for Research on the Signs of the Times (Discern) will be holding a public lecture themed Just Wars In Theory And Practice on Monday at 7 p.m. at Dar l-Ewropa, 254, St Paul Street, Valletta.
The guest speaker will be Richard Rubenstein, from the Institute for Conflict Resolution and Analysis, George Mason University, Virginia, US.
